Julien Serge Doubrovsky was born on May 22, 1928, Paris and died on March 23, 2017.
He was a French writer and 1989 Prix Médicis winner for Le Livre brisé.
Serge was also a critical theorist and the inventor of “autofiction”.
Serge’s father was a tailor and his mother was a secretary.
He came from a Jewish family, in 1943, in the midst of World War II, they fled Le Vésinet and hid with a cousin.
He became a Professor of French Literature at New York University in 1966.
Serge Doubrovsky passed away at 88 years old.
