Sam Edwards Adams, Sr., born on September 20, 1948 and passed away October 10, 2015.

Edwards was a professional American football offensive guard with the New England Patriots (1972–1980) and the New Orleans Saints (1981) of the National Football League.

He played college football at the Prairie View A&M University.

Edwards died at his home in Houston on 2015 at the age of 67.

Edwards was the father of defensive tackle, Sam Adams.
