Kyrgyz businessman and politician of the Uzbek origins Kadyrzhan Batyrov was born on March 9, 1956, and died on December 4, 2018.
Batyrov was also head of the University of People’s Friendship and a parliamentary deputy.
Batyrov lived in Sweden in 2017.
In 2010, Batyrov fled from Kyrgyzstan to Ukraine.
He was given a life sentence in absentia for his alleged role in ethnic conflicts in southern Kyrgyzstan in summer 2010.
Batyrov applied for political asylum in Ukraine, in September 2011.
The Ukrainian prosecutors gave a request to extradite him to Kyrgyzstan, in October 2011.
Prosecutors then withdrew permission to extradite Batyrov after UNHCR helped him to receive an offer of asylum in Sweden.
Kadyrzhan Batyrov passed away in his sleep in Odessa, Ukraine at 62 years old.
