Giuseppe Ferrara was born on July 15, 1932, near Florence and died on June 25, 2016.
He was an Italian film director and screenwriter.
Ferrara founded at the high school an innovative film club, which proposes was to critically analyzes neo-realism movies; since then he showed a character of “novelty”, often considered as “subversive”.
Giuseppe was graduated from the University of Florence with an exposition on the “New Italian Cinema”, then he moved to Rome to attend the directing course at the Experimental Centre of Cinematography and degree in 1959, but did not find any interesting opportunities, also because of his rather transparent political opinions.
Giuseppe carried on, however, many difficulties and impediments, especially related to finance and production, his activities as a documentary and short filmmaker.
He shot several documentaries in the 1960s, he began making fictional films in the mid-1970s.
The Moro Affair (1987) was his most well-known film, which was awarded the Silver Bear for Best Actor for Gian Maria Volontè at the 37th Berlin International Film Festival.

He was a teacher of “Science and Technologies of Artistic Productions” at the University of Perugia.
He died due cardiac arrest.
