Clovis Maksoud was born on December 17, 1926, and died on May 15, 2016.
He was an American diplomat and journalist.
Clovis served as Ambassador of the Arab League to India from 1961 through 1966, to the United Nations from 1979 through 1990 and at the same time to the United States.
Maksoud worked with presidents John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush.
Other than being an ambassador, Clovis Maksoud was the senior editor of Al-Ahram.
Clovis Maksoud also served as professor of International Relations and director of the Center for the Global South at American University in Washington, D.C.
He died at hospital in Washington, D.C. from a cerebral hemorrhage.
Clovis Maksoud passed away at 86 yrs old.
