Yisrael Friedman, Israeli rabbi and educator, Died at 93

Yisrael Friedman was born on November 8, 1923, and died on May 1, 2017.

He was known as the Pashkaner Rebbe (after the city of Pașcani where his grandfather served as Rebbe).

Friedman was a lecturer at the Tel Aviv University and the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and the rosh yeshiva of a hesder yeshiva in Netivot.

He was a sixth-generation descendant of Rebbe Yisrael of Rizhin.

Friedman lived in the southern Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo.

Rebbetzin Tziporah was his wife, a daughter of the Imrei Chaim of Vizhnitz.

His Hoshea Friedman, a brigadier general in the IDF.

The Rebbe’s grandsons study in various hesder yeshivos.

Yisrael Friedman passed away at 93 years old.
