Stan Gheorghiu was born on March 21, 1949, and died on February 10, 2016.
He was a Romanian football player and coach.
Stan debuted at sixteen as the home team goalkeeper Gloria CFR Galati who play in Division C .
Following military service, Stan Gheorghiu was transferred to FCM Galati which promoted Division in 1974; was nicknamed “Banks” because of his physical resemblance with English goalkeeper Gordon Banks.
He debuted at UTA Arad in defeat with Jiu Petrosani, in 1975, replacing Silviu Iorgulescu.
Stan played 18 matches for the team.
Stan retired at the age of thirty-three years after an injury last team for which he defended the Unirea Focsani.

He trained teams Unirea Focsani FC Panciu, Foresta Gugesti and FCM Adjud, the first of them occupying the post of club president twice.
Stan Gheorghiu was an observer of the Romanian Football Federation and during 1991 to 2010 he was president of Vrancea County Association Football.
Stan Gheorghiu passed away at 67 yrs old due to a heart attack.
