Rovshan Janiyev was born on January 27, 1975, and died on August 18, 2016.

He was also known as Rovshan Lankaransky.

He was an influential Azeri gangster.

During 2000, Rovshan Janiyev shot dead a prominent Baku crime boss in broad daylight and was subsequently beaten so severely that he developed a mental illness.

However, the court released him after just a few months imprisonment.

With him fearing for his life, Janiyev fled from Azerbaijan to Moscow where he grew more and more powerful within the underworld and eventually controlled all the ethnic Azeri gangs in Moscow, running protection rackets and drug trafficking.

He was assassinated in Istanbul, Turkey, after returning from a trip to Dubai.

Rovshan was shot in his luxury Range Rover car, which bore an Azerbaijani license plate, in the Beşiktaş district.

Rovshan Janiyev passed away at 41 years old.
