Ríkharður Jónsson was born on November 12, 1929, in Akranes, Iceland and died on February 14, 2017.

He was an Icelandic former footballer.

Jónsson made his debut for the Icelandic national team in 1947 and got 33 caps and 17 goals until 1965.

Which made him top goalscorer of the national team.

That record was equaled by Eiður Guðjohnsen in 2006

Then, in 2007, it was broken.

After his football career was over, Jónsson also became coach of the national football team from 1969-1971.
