Patrick James John “Pat” Eddery was born on March 18, 1952, and died on November 10, 2015.
He was an Irish flat racing jockey and horse trainer.
Patrick rode three winners of the Epsom Derby, and was Champion Jockey on eleven occasions.
He is co-holder of the record for most wins in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
Patrick rode the winners of 4,632 British flat races, a figure exceeded only by Sir Gordon Richards.
He was born in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland on 18 March 1952, although his birth was registered in Dublin.
Patrick was the fifth child of Jimmy Eddery, who rode Panaslipper to win the Irish Derby in 1955, and his wife Josephine (the daughter of the jockey Jack Moylan).
He attended the Oatlands Primary School in Stillorgan.
Patrick passed away at age 63 in November 2015.
