Norma Procter was born on February 15, 1928, Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire and died on May 2, 2017, Grimsby.

She was an English contralto.

Procter studied with Roy Henderson.

Procter was best known for her oratorio and recital work but also performed in opera, with her debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in 1961 as Gluck’s Orpheus.

Procter also sang Lucretia in The Rape of Lucretia for Britten at the 1958 Aldeburgh Festival.

Procter was particularly known for her recordings of Mahler.

Norma Procter passed away at 89 years old.
