Michael P. “Mike” Kelly was born on May 6, 1942, and died on December 7, 2016.
He was a Republican member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing the 7th District from 2005 until 2011.
During the 26th Alaska State Legislature, he served on the Finance Committee, chairing the Corrections and the Natural Resources Finance Subcommittee.
Kelly also served on the Fish & Game Finance Subcommittee.
Kelly graduated from Monroe High School in 1960, attended Seattle University from 1960–1961, and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Alaska in 1966.
He was married to wife Cherie.
Together they had five children; Roxanne, Shannon, Erin, Cecilia & James, as well as 12 grandchildren.
He was killed in the crash of an American Champion Citabria, which was being piloted by Kelly, on Fort Wainwright near Fairbanks, Alaska.
Mike Kelly passed away at 74 years old.
