Mark Takai was born on July 1, 1967, and died on July 20, 2016.

Mark was a congressman of the United States House of Representatives, representing Hawaii’s 1st congressional district, as a Democrat.
Earlier, he had served in the Hawaii House of Representatives, from 1994 until 2014.
Takai was from Aiea, Hawaii.
Mark served in the Hawaii Army National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel and took part in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2009.
He became the Democratic Party nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2014 elections.
Merk defeated former Congressman Charles Djou to win the seat.
He stated that he would not seek reelection in 2016 due to a fight against pancreatic cancer.
