Leila Alaoui was born in 1982, in Paris and died on 18 January 18, 2016.

She was a French-Moroccan photographer and video artist.

Miss Leila Alaoui was born to a Moroccan father and a French mother and grew up in Marrakesh, Morocco.

Leila relocated to New York to study photography at the City University of New York, then to Europe before returning to Morocco in 2008, with visits on a regular basis to Beirut and Paris.

Leila Alaoui work focused on social and national realities in graphical mode in documentary film and visual arts.

Her worked on the cultural identity and migration through the creation of images, reports and studio video installations, in particular through a portable studio.

Alaoui was seriously wounded by gunshots in the Cappuccino cafe terrace on January 15, 2016, attacks in Burkina Faso.

Leila Alaoui died three days later from injuries suffered in a terrorist attack in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Leila Alaoui passed away at 33 yrs old.
