William Lee Robinson was born on September 24, 1943, and died on November 4, 2015.
He was an American politician who was the Mayor of Macon, Georgia from 1987–1991, and a four-term State Senator of Georgia.
At the time of his death, William was serving as the Circuit Public Defender of the Macon (Georgia) Judicial Circuit, which includes Bibb, Peach and Crawford Counties.
Born on September 24, 1943, in Rome, Georgia, Lee Robinson attended Bibb County Public Schools, and after graduation from Lanier High School, Robinson left temporarily for Atlanta and Georgia Tech.
William was the husband of Irene Scales Robinson.
The couple had two children, Christine Robinson, Simmons and Jacquelyn Castellow; and four grandchildren, AveryBeth Simmons, Will Simmons, Katherine Castellow, and Gunnar Castellow.
William was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church, where Lee is an overseer, ordained deacon and active in international missions.
He enjoys sailing, flying and running and completed the Walt Disney World Marathon in January 2004.
William was a licensed pilot (Commercial, Multiengine Land, Single Engine Land and Sea, Instrument) who holds the Gold Seal Designation to his Flight Instructor Certificate.
The Federal Aviation Administration named him an Accident Prevention Counsellor.
William passed away at age 72 on November 4, 2015 from colon cancer.
