John R. Rodriguez was born on February 12, 1937 and died on July 5, 2017.
He was a Guyana-born Canadian politician.
Rodriguez served as the mayor of Greater Sudbury, Ontario from 2006 to 2010, and before herepresented the electoral district of Nickel Belt in the Canadian House of Commons from 1972 to 1980 and from 1984 to 1993 as a member of the New Democratic Party.
On the day of the election, he defeated Rodriguez by a ten-point margin.
Ultimately, he attributed his defeat to a “negative, American-style campaign”.
John announced in 2012 that he intended to run again for mayor in the 2014 municipal election.
John was not successful in 2014, placing third.
John Rodriguez passed away at 80 years old.
