João Castelo Ribeiro Gonçalves was born on October 19, 1937, and died on December 11, 2016.
He was a Brazilian politician and lawyer.
Castelo served as governor of Maranhão from March 15, 1979, to May 15, 1982.
During 2012, he disputed re-election. But lost to his opponent, Holanda Júnior, supported by Dino.
In 2014, he was elected federal deputy from the winning coalition of Flávio Dino.
He died after complications from a surgery.
João Castelo passed away at 79 years old.
