Edmond Farhat was born on May 20, 1933, and died on December 17, 2016.

He was a Lebanese Apostolic nuncio, a diplomatic representative of the Holy See.

He was born in Ain Kfaa, Lebanon.

Farhat was a bishop of the Maronite Church who was engaged by many years in the papal diplomacy.

The Maronite Patriarch of Antioch Paul Peter Meouchi consecrated him as a priest on March 28, 1959.

Farhat graduated in theology, philosophy and canon law in Paris and Rome.

He became a doctor of theology.

Between 1967 and 1989, he had worked as undersecretary of the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops in Rome and from 1970 to 1989 as Professor of Islamic Law at the University of Sassari (Italy).

And the Pope Paul VI awarded him on February 26, 1971 as honorific chaplain of His Holiness (Monsignor).

He was again awarded by Pope John Paul II as Honorary Prelate of His Holiness, on November 25, 1983.

Edmond Farhat passed away at 83 years old.
