Carol Ann Susi, actress, died at 62

American actress best known for providing the voice of recurring unseen character Mrs. Wolowitz on the television series The Big Bang Theory died on November 11, 2014 from cancer at age 62.

Susi was born in Brooklyn and was of Italian descent. She studied acting at HB Studio in New York City before moving to Los Angeles in the 1970s.

Kolchak: The Night Stalker (1974) was her first screen appearance. Susi also had extensive experience in live theatre and voiced a character on the video game installment of CSI: NY (2008).

The actress was born in February 2, 1952. She began her career in 1974 and continues it till nowadays.

Carol Ann is well known to teenagers due to her role in the television series “The big bang theory”.

Also the actress appeared in the movie “Just go with it” in which she performed the mother of the main character, performed by Adam Sandler.

What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann’s immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance.

In addition to her talent, Carol Ann was a constant source of joy and kindness to all. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family during this time, and we will miss her greatly.”

“Unseen by viewers, the Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show’s eight seasons.

What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann’s immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance,” the statement also said.

“She was a force of nature who didn’t suffer fools and was fiercely loyal to her friends.

Known only to a very lucky few, she was a world-class culinary genius who frequently scored blue ribbons at the very competitive cooking competitions at Los Angeles County Fair,” her rep said.

As a teen, Susi studied acting at the renowned HB Studio in New York and came to Los Angeles in the 1970s, when discovered by the casting department at Universal Studios.

Shortly thereafter, she was cast in the hit ABC series, ‘The Night Stalker’, as Kolchakā€™s secretary, Monique.

Dozens of television guest appearances followed, including ‘Cheers’, ‘Doogie Howser, M.D.’, ‘Mad About You’, ‘Just Shoot Me’, ‘Seinfeld’, ‘Six Feet Under’, ‘Becker’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘That ’70s Show’, ‘Out of Practice’, ‘Married…with Children’, ‘The King of Queens’, ‘The Secret of My Success’, ‘My Blue Heaven’, ‘Sabrina, The Teenage Witch’ and over the past eight seasons, had an unseen role on ‘Big Bang Theory’.

A statement from “The Big Bang Theory” creator and showrunner, Chuck Lorre: and Warner Bros. TV read, in part, “The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today with the passing of Carol Ann Susi, who hilariously and memorably voiced the role of Mrs. Wolowitz.

There was something about Susi that probably made her stand above them all — beginning with that wonderful voice.

Because viewers never saw her, they were left to fill in the blanks, and the voice allowed imaginations to run wild: She was large, yes, but how large? And what exactly did she wear? Bright vivid colors, one could reasonably assume.
