Carme María Chacón Piqueras was born on March 13, 1971, and died on April 9, 2017.
She was a Spanish politician.
She was the Minister of Defence from 2008 to 2011 in the cabinet led by Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
Chacón also served as a lecturer of Constitutional Law at the University of Girona.
Chacón was married to Miguel Barroso, from 2007 to 2016.
Together they had a son.
She was born in Esplugues de Llobregat in Catalonia, in the region of Baix Llobregat.
Chacón held a bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Barcelona, and she conducted her postgraduate study at Osgoode Hall Law School (Toronto), the University of Kingston and Laval University in Quebec City.
During 2016, she left politics to practice law.
She died at her home due to a congenital heart defect.
Chacón had suffered from dextrocardia and a third-degree atrioventricular block.
Carme Chacón passsed away at 46 years old.
