K. A. Ashok Pai was born on December 30, 1946, and died on September 29, 2016.

He was an Indian psychiatrist, writer and film producer based in Shimoga.

Pai was the chairman of Karnataka Mental Health Taskforce.

Ashok Pai started the Manasa Nursing Home and Manasa Educational Foundation in Shimoga.

He produced a series called Antarala which had ten episodes with Girish Karnad as the lead actor

Ashok Pai passed away at 69 years old.
