André Jagendorf, American plant biologist, Died at 90


André Tridon Jagendorf was born on October 21, 1926, in New York City and died on March 13, 2017.

He was a Liberty Hyde Bailey Professor Emeritus in the Section of Plant Biology at Cornell University.

He was notable for providing direct evidence that chloroplasts synthesize adenosine triphosphate (ATP) using the chemiosmotic mechanism proposed by Peter Mitchell.

His parents were Moritz Adolph Jagendorf and Sophie Sheba.

André Jagendorf passed away at 90 years old.
