Alex Young was born on February 3, 1937, and died on February 27, 2017.

He was a Scottish football player.

Alex Young was a prolific goal-scorer for Heart of Midlothian and Everton. He won league championships with both clubs.

Later, Young played for Glentoran and Stockport County, also represented the Scottish League and Scotland.

When he completed his career Young ran his family’s upholstery business in Edinburgh before retiring.

Alex Young’s son, Jason, became a professional footballer in the 1990s but could not match his famous father’s prowess, and spent his career mostly in the Scottish lower divisions.

Alex Young passed away at 80 years old.
