Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Adenan bin Satem was born on January 27, 1944, in Kuching, Sarawak and died on January 11, 2017.
He was the fifth Chief Minister of Sarawak.
Satem officially took the oath of office in a ceremony held in Astana on 28 February 2014.
He was also the President of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), which is part of the Barisan Nasional coalition.
Satem is of Malay descent.
Satem received his early education at St. Joseph’s Primary School, and later at St. Joseph’s Secondary School.
Satem once worked as a journalist and teacher before pursuing his studies in law at the University of Adelaide, Australia.
When he graduated in 1970, he was appointed as Magistrate from 1971 to 1972.
Satem was appointed the assistant secretary for the Ministry of Primary Industries from 1972 to 1974.
Satem died in Kota Samarahan, at the Sarawak Heart Centre.
