Zeke Grader was born on September 6, 1947, in Bellingham, Washington, and died September 7, 2015.

He was an American conservationist.

Zeke was born into a fishing family, an unforgettable veteran of the fight to protect fishing communities and the fishing way of life

Zeke was the head of the Pacific Coast Federation of the Fishermen’s Associations (PCFFA) for 40 years.

His work ensured the federal government was committed to doubling California’s Central Valley salmon populations.

Grader contributed to institute critical fishing protections in communities, including the Magnuson-Stevens Act reinstated.

Grader helped the fleet to understand that conserving some of the fish in the ocean today would result in the growth of more for tomorrow.

He engaged fully in public awareness and taught to protect riverine and marine environments is the same thing as protecting the fleet.

Zeke Grader received the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Environmental Hero award.

Zeke Grader passed away at 68 years old due to pancreatic cancer.
