Zdzislaw Gregory Jaskuła was born on December 27, 1951, in Lask, and died October 24, 2015 in Lodz.

He was a poet, writer, author of adaptation and songs, theatre director and social activist.

He was the Director of the New Theatre in Lodz in 1997 to 1999 and 2010 to 2015.

Jaskuła was a graduate of the Catholic University of Lublin.

Jaskuła and his and wife of Fame Lisiecka held regular meetings (living Jaskułów functioning continuously since the mid-70s to 1989) from independent artists, writers, actors and discussions, lectures (including the Society for Academic Courses) and various cultural events.

Editor of the anthology “The ax, hoe, Wawel Dragon”. The martial law wrote, edited and dealt with the correction of texts independently.

From 1976 he had been banned from publication under his own name, because he wrote under the pseudonym Gregory Landmann, Marek Gruda or Z. Lisiecka Fame.

In March 1976 he was expelled from the fifth year of the University of Lodz under the pretext of lack of supplementary exam of the first year (probably to intimidate other students).

Zdzislaw Jaskuła was forbidden to work and was marred anonymous phone and letters from “representatives of the working class” and “well-wishers”. Prevented him all trips abroad – not his stamps inserted into an ID card that allows a trip to KDL and denied a passport to the mid-eighties.

Zdzislaw and his wife repeatedly punished by the adjudicating colleges (eg. Under the pretext of disturbing the silence of the night) and fines.

The attempt to deprive their apartment, the telephone was tapped, they carried out searches and seizures (mostly books and independent publications).

In 2010 again, he became the director of the New Theatre in Lodz.

As a poet, Zdzislaw Jaskuła made ​​his debut in 1969 in “Poetry”.
Zdzislaw has published collections of poems: Coincidence, two poems, Evening with the author and a Typewriter in 1984.

On May 3, 2007 Jaskuła was awarded for outstanding contribution to the independence of the Republic of Polish as activities for democratic transformation, for achievements in undertaking for the benefit of the country work and social activities, he was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Polish.

Zdzislaw Jaskuła passed away on October 24 2015 due to cancer.
