Zdeněk Smetana, Czech artist and animator, Died at 90

Zdenek Smetana was born on July 26, 1925, in Prague and died on February 25, 2016, in Prague.

He was a Czech animator, screenwriter and artist.

Zdenek worked in the studio Trick Brothers and later was the director of the Prague Short Film.

Smetana was the winner of over fifty awards at Czech and foreign film festivals and festivals, among them was St. Leo. Mark, Golden Bear, Price London Academy Award for best film of the year.

During his career, he has created many characters and contributed to the Czech animation favorite bedtime.

Some of the most famous of these include Tales from moss and ferns (Křemílek and Vochomůrka), Reed, Štaflík and Špagetka and the Little Witch, Radovan fun.

He was the illustrator of several books for children.

Following the opening ceremony Anifilm 2014 received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Zdeněk Smetana passed away at 90 yrs old.
