Yuri Lobanov also was known as Yuriy Lobanov born on September 29, 1952, and died on May 1, 2017.

He was a Soviet-born Tajik sprint canoeist.

Yuri competed from the early 1970s to the early 1980s.

He participated in two Summer Olympics, Yuri won two medals in the C-2 1000 m events with a gold in 1972 and a bronze in 1980.

He also won 14 medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with ten gold (C-2 500 m: 1974, 1975; C-2 1000 m: 1974, 1977, 1979; C-2 10000 m: 1973, 1974, 1975, 1977, 1979), two silvers (C-2 500 m: 1971, C-2 1000 m: 1973), and two bronzes (C-2 500 m: 1977, C-2 1000 m: 1978.

Yuri Lobanov passed away at 64 years old.
