Mor Philexinos Yuhanon, real name John Jacob was born on December 5, 1941 and died on December 30, 2015.

He was a Syriac Orthodox bishop.

He was the Bishop Emeritus of Malabar Diocese.

He is the son of Elappanal Family of Pampady.

Jacob was ordained by Mor Philaxinos Poulose, in 1964 when he was 23 yrs old.

Then Catholicose Mor Baselios Paulose II and Kassisho in 1969 by Mor Baselios Augen I.

His early school education was taken at Pampady, then he attended the Baselios College

He has a BA in economics and a MA in economics from the University Sri Venkateswara (Thirupathi).

Mor theological training was at the Orthodox Theological Seminary in Kottayam. Mor Athanasius Yeshue Samuel, Archbishop of Canada, sponsored Jacob for his higher studies in the United States.

Yuhanon joined the New York Theological Seminary and obtained his STM degree.

Yuhanon took his ThD degree from Logos Graduate School of Theology in New York and DD degree from Orlando International Seminary in Florida.

Jacob was the only bishop in Malankara Jacobite Syrian Church with two doctorates.

John also completed his Clinical Pastoral Education in New York.

During his work he studied and joined Dakshin Bharath Hindi Prachar Sabha, deemed a university and center of excellence under Govt. of India, and secured Hindi Bhooshan and Hindi Praveen.

John Jacob passed away at 74 yrs old.
