Yu Songlie, Chinese agricultural scientist, educator and academician, Died at 95

Yu Songlie was born on March 13, 1921, in Cixi County, Zhejiang was born on April 20, 2016.

He was a Chinese agricultural scientist, educator and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

Yu was known as one of the founders of wheat cultivation science in China.

Songlie obtained a bachelor’s degree of agronomy from Fukien Christian University in 1942.

Yu became a teaching assistant in Fukien Provincial Agriculture College, Fukien Christian University and Shanghai Nantong College after his graduation.

Songlie enrolled in Shandong Agriculture College in 1949 when the Chinese Communist Party took control of mainland China.

He was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering for his achievements in wheat cultivation science, on December 4, 1997.

Yu Songlie passed away at 95 yrs old.
