Yorman Landa, Venezuelan baseball player, Died at 22

Yorman Nicger Landa Tovar was born on June 11, 1994, and died on December 9, 2016.

He was a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher.

He was signed by the Twins as a 16-year-old in 2010 from Santa Teresa del Tuy, Venezuela.

Landa was brought along slowly as a young pitching prospect, having logged only 223 innings over six seasons in the minor leagues.

He required shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum in 2014, but rebounded to reestablish himself as a potential prospect in 2016.

Landa spent the entire 2016 season with high Class A Fort Myers of the Florida State League.

Which was reported his fastball hit 102 mph during an appearance in the FSL All-Star game in June 2016.

But, Landa would go on to miss the final six weeks of the regular season with a strained lat muscle, although the Twins remained high on him after re-signing him earlier this past week on 2 December 2016.

He was most recently ranked as the Twins’ 20th best prospect by MLB.com.

During 2015, he pitched for the Cedar Rapids Kernels of the Midwest League.

Following the 2015 season, the Twins added him to their 40-man roster.

Yorman Landa passed away at 22 years old.
