Witold Mańczak, Polish linguist, Died at 91


Witold Mańczak was born on August 12, 1924, and died on January 12, 2016.

He was a Polish linguist.

Manczak was a member of Polish Academy of Learning and the Polish Academy of Sciences.

He attended the High School in Sosnowiec, in 1945.

In 1947, Manczak graduated from the University of Economics

In 1948, he received his Masters in Romance philology at the Jagiellonian University.

He completed Doctor of Humanities, in 1950.

In 1954, he was Assistant professor of Romance languages at the Jagiellonian University.

From 1971 to 1994 he worked his way up to Professor Emeritus.

Manczak’s Publications include; The Method of Comparing the Vocabulary in Parallel Texts. Journal of Quantitative Lingu, Wieża Babel, Wrocław: Zakład Narodowy im. Ossolińskich in 1999, Lingwistyka a Prehistoria”. BULLETIN DE LA SOCIÉTÉ POLONAISE DE LINGUISTIQUE, Folia Linguistica Historica, Acta Societatis Linguisticae Europaeae, and many more, he has also written many books.
