Wim Mook, Dutch physicist, Died at 83

Willem Gerrit “Wim” Mook was born on July 10, 1932, and died on January 24, 2016.

He was a Dutch isotope physicist.

Willem gained his doctorate at the University of Groningen in 1968, with a thesis titled: Geochemistry of the stable carbon and oxygen isotopes of natural waters in the Netherlands.

Willem was also a lecturer of isotope physics at the same university between 1975 and 1979.

Starting the next year, he was the professor of isotope physics, until his retirement in 1997.

From 1986, Willem also worked as a professor at the VU University Amsterdam.

Wim Mook was the director of the Royal Netherlands Institute in Sea Research from 1990 to 1996.

In 1985, Wim became a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Wim Mook passed away at 83 yrs old in Haren.
