William Russell Houck was born on July 26, 1926, in Mobile, Alabama and died on March 9, 2016, at St. Dominic’s Hospital.

He was a American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church.

He served in the Diocese of Jackson, Mississippi as Auxiliary bishop and bishop from 1979 to 2003.

He was ordained a priest on May 19, 1951, for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mobile.

William was named auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Jackson and titular bishop of Alexanum, on March 28, 1979.

He was appointed the bishop of the Jackson Diocese on April 11, 1984, and was installed on June 5, 1984.

Bishop Houck retired, on January 3, 2003.

William Russell Houck passed away at 89 yrs old due to complications following a heart surgery.
