William O’Callaghan, Irish Army officer, Died at 94

Lieutenant-General William O’Callaghan, birth name Liam Ó Céallachgáin was born in 1921, in Buttevant, County Corkand died on December 26, 2015.

He was an Irish Army officer.

He attended the Military College at Curragh Camp, County Kildare.

Liam was best known for being the Commanding Officer of United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon for a period in the 1980s.

William O’Callaghan was also a recipient of the French Legion of Honour and the Lebanese National Order of the Cedar.

William was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Honour and the National Order of the Cedar.

William O’Callaghan passed away at 94 yrs old.
