William H. Jarvis, Canadian politician, Died at 85

William Herbert “Bill” Jarvis was born on August 15, 1930, in Hamilton, Ontario and died on April 26, 2016.

He was a Canadian politician.

He was a student at the London Central Collegiate Institute and the University of Western Ontario where he was a member of The Kappa Alpha Society.

William H. Jarvis was a lawyer by profession, he was first elected to the Canadian House of Commons in the 1972 election as the Progressive Conservative Member of Parliament for Perth—Wilmot.

After the 1979 election Tories came to power as a result of Prime Minister Joe Clark appointing Jarvis to Cabinet as Minister of State for Federal-Provincial Relations.

Because Clark’s minority government fell as a result of the budget’s failure in a motion of no confidence and lost the subsequent 1980 election.

So Jarvis became re-elected in his riding.

William H. Jarvis retired from politics at the 1984 election.

William H. Jarvis passed away at 85 yrs old in Cornwall, Ontario.
