Ved Bhasin died on November 5, 1985.

He was a Pakistani journalist and editor for the Kashmir Times.

Ved was the Founder, Editor and Chairman of Kashmir Times Group of Publications, breathed his last at his Gandhi Nagar residence.

He was given a farewell at the Jogi Gate on Friday.

Ved long career as a journalist now and then is highly respect in his field, he’s an advocate of justice, peace, and human rights.

He also earned foes for his fearless writings on those caught in the crossfire between security forces and militants.

Eventurally, several state s stopped issuing advertisements to his newspaper from time to time.

That did not silence Bhasin’s work.

Ved made sure he knew every Chief Minister of the state, starting from Sheikh Abdullah to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, but never hesitated to write against their governments.

He also wrote about Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Maulvi Farooq and Yasin Malik respected him.

Ved had no fear for the military and wrote about them also.

He addresses the members of Jammu Kashmir Students Liberation Front in 1989 abducted Rubiya Sayeed, daughter of then Home Minister Mufti, Ved termed it an “an act of cowardice.”

In 1990s Ved continued to write about the common man who had become a victim of the volatile situation, during the grip by militancy that led to a regional polarisation, which led to many attacks.

Ved Bhasin passed away at 86 years old on November 5, 1985.
