Vaughn Harper, American radio DJ, Died at 71


Vaughn Harper was born on March 7, 1945, and died on July 9, 2016.

He was an American radio DJ.

Himself and fellow host Champaine launched the “Quiet Storm” in the early 1980s and his voice soon became a signature of WBLS.

Vaughn Harper was a standout basketball player, before his years old the radio.

In 1968, Harper was drafted by the Detroit Pistons but failed to make the team

He was a native New Yorker.

His on-air style was as smooth as the soulful slow jams he played .

Vaughn Harper has been credited by some with initiating the platform for Smooth Jazz radio by being one of the first to feature a vast array of Smooth Jazz artist prior to it becoming an established format.

During 1993, Harper almost lost his voice after suffering a stroke.

Vaughn Harper passed away at 71 years old.
