He was a Nigerian politician, former intelligence chief, and former Federal Commissioner of Internal Affairs.
Umaru Shinkafi was a presidential aspirant during the Third Nigerian Republic.
He joined the Nigerian police force in 1959, after passing through the police college in Kaduna.
During 1973 graduated from the University of Lagos and a year later, he graduated from the Nigerian Law School.
Umaru Shinkafi was a Federal Commissioner of Internal Affairs in 1975 and later became the head of the National Security Organization in 1979.
Shinkafi died in London from an undisclosed illness.
Umaru Shinkafi passed away at 79 years old.
