Uma Shankar Mishra died on July 3, 2016.
He was an Indian Independence Movement Activist, Veteran Indian Politician and President-District Congress Committee Raebareli.
His political party was the Indian National Congress.
Raebareli being associated with the Gandhi family was one of the important constituencies of Indian National Congress.
Uma Shankar Mishra was closely associated and worked for last 4 generations with the family.
He has carved his name in the history of Raebareli for delivering his service and loyalty towards the party and constituency.
He actively worked with Feroze Gandhi from 1951 to 1960.
Then, in 1966 he worked with Indira Gandhi.
Uma served as Vice President of Zila Parishad, Raebareli for over 15 Years.
During 2002, Uma Shankar Mishra was elected as the President of District Congress Committee.
But, in 2004, Uma Shankar invited Sonia Gandhi to contest from his Mother in law’s constituency Raebareli.
Gandhi went on to contest the Indian general election, in 2004 and won by a margin of 2.5 Lakh votes.
Mishra organized the entire constituency and election.
Mishra diligence, honesty and ability to connect with the common man have made him the leader of the masses.
Uma’s activeness and vigor towards work have made him an icon among the younger politicians.
Uma Shankar Mishra’s spouse Late Smt. Rameshwari Mishra belonged to well- known Zamindar’s family from Unnao, UP.
Uma’s son Prahlad Mishra is a Congress loyalist.
Uma Shankar Mishra passed away at 93 years old.
