Tosun Terzioğlu was born in 1942, in İstanbul, Turkey and died on February 23, 2016, in Istanbul.

He was a Turkish mathematician and academic administrator.

Tosun graduated from Robert College in 1961.

Terzioglu studied mathematics at Newcastle University, UK and received his BS in 1965.

Tosun received his PhD from Frankfurt University in Germany in 1968.

From 1968-1994, he taught at Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara.

Tosun Terzioğlu worked as a visiting professor at Michigan University between 1975–1976 and the University of Wuppertal in Germany between 1982-1983.

Terzioglu was the president of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) from 1992-1997.

Later, he became the president of Sabanci University, Istanbul.

Nazim Terzioglu was also a mathematician, his father was also a mathematician.

Tosun Terzioğlu passed away at 74 yrs old.
