Thomas “Tommy” Edward Gilbert Sr. was born on January 15, 1940, and died on November 26, 2015.
He was an American professional wrestler.
Thomas wrestled for Continental Wrestling Association and throughout the South as Tommy Gilbert.
He is the father of wrestlers Doug Gilbert and Eddie Gilbert.
Tommy Gilbert spent much of his career in the Memphis territory, wrestling as himself or as the masked Nightmare Freddy, a gimmick that involved Gilbert mimmicking the character of Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street films.
He was inducted into the Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame on March 7, 1994 alongside Al Greene, Don Greene, Jerry Jarrett, Lance Russell and Sputnik Monroe.
Thomas was the father of two sons: Thomas Jr. and Doug Gilbert.
They would become professional wrestlers as Eddie Gilbert and Doug Gilbert.
Thomas passed away at age 75 in November 2015.
