Tom Ong, Filipino sports shooter, Died at 78

Mariano “Tom” Ong was born in October 1938, in Malabon and died on December 14, 2016.

He was a Filipino sports shooter.

He competed for the Philippines at the 1972 and 1976 Summer Olympics.

Tom competed in the Mixed 25m rapid fire pistol.

He owned the Malabon Soap and Oil Industrial Co., Inc. which operated the Spring Cooking Oil business.

Ong’s son later took responsibility for the business’ operations.

He died due to cardiac arrest after he went under a two-hours dialysis procedure.

Before his death, he regularly went in and out of a hospital since June 2016.

He was a diabetic, his kidneys in his later life detoriated.

Ong was survived by three children, Nathaniel, Mica, and Donald, all of which are involving in Shooting sport.

Tom Ong passed away at 78 years old.
