Thomas Warren “Tom” Moss, Jr. was born on October 3, 1928, and died on November 26, 2015.
He was an American politician, most recently serving as the City Treasurer of Norfolk, a post to which he was elected in 2001.
Prior to that, Thomas served 36 years as a Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates, and was its Speaker 1991 to 2000.
Thomas received his bachelor’s degree from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War period, attaining the rank of first lieutenant.
Afterward, Thomas attended the University of Richmond School of Law and set up a law office in his home town of Norfolk.
He practiced law until his election as city treasurer in 2001.
Thomas passed away on November 26, 2015 in Greenville, South Carolina from a heart attack.
