Tom McClung, American jazz pianist and composer, Dead

Tom McClung was born in 1957 and died on May 14, 2017.

He was an American jazz pianist and composer.

He released several jazz albums, both as a leader and as a sideman to other artists.

McClung played and recorded with musicians such as Archie Shepp, Yusef Lateef, and Marion Brown.

McClung spent years residing, performing, and recording music with other artists in Paris, France.

Beginning in 1996, McClung toured and recorded internationally as a member of the Archie Shepp quartet.

His solo piano recording Declassified (Blang Music, 2007) features arrangements and re-interpretations of classical composers (Satie, Bach, Beethoven, etc.), traditional music from around the world, and three original pieces.

During 2008 he wrote and performed the music for the film D’Un Mur l’Autre by Patric Jean.

Tom McClung passed away in 2017.
