Mathias Gerhard “Tias” Eckhoff was born on June 25, 1926, in Vestre Slidre and died on January 31, 2016.

He was a Norwegian industrial designer.

He was the son of shipmaster Trygve Eckhoff and Sigrid Einang, and the brother of Torstein Eckhoff.

Tias operated as a designer for Porsgrunds Porselænsfabrik from 1949.

Amongst his designs are Det riflede from 1952, Maya from 1961, and Una from 1973.

Eckhoff has represented in various museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Tias Eckhoff designs received the gold medals at the Triennale in Milan in 1954, 1957 and 1960.

Tias Eckhoff passed away at 89 yrs old.
