Thomas Luckmann was born on October 14, 1927, and died on May 10, 2016.

He was an American-Austrian sociologist of Slovene origin.

Thomas taught primarily in Germany.

Luckmann contributions were central to studies about the sociology of communication, sociology of knowledge, sociology of religion, and the philosophy of science.

He studied philosophy and linguistics at the University of Vienna and Innsbruck.

Later he to the United States, where he studied at The New School in New York.

Thomas Luckmann worked as a professor of Sociology at the University of Konstanz in Germany, where was professor emeritus since 1994.

Thomas Luckmann passed away at 88 yrs old.
