Ted Meines, Dutch military officer and veteran affairs activist, Died at 95

Tette “Ted” Meines was born on September 25, 1921, and died on December 24, 2016.

He was a Dutch Royal Netherlands Army lieutenant general and veterans’ rights activist.

In World War II, Meines was a member of the Dutch resistance and helped Jewish families, for which he was awarded the title Righteous Among the Nations by Israel.

After the war had ended, he saw active service in the Politionele acties.

During and after his military career, Meines became involved in veteran affairs and was instrumental in the setting up of several veterans organizations.

Meines was considered the founder of the Dutch veteran affairs policy.

Ted Meines passed away at 95 years old.
