Svend Asmussen was born on February 28, 1916, in Copenhagen, Denmark and died on February 7, 2017.

He was a jazz violinist from Denmark.

He was known as “The Fiddling Viking”.

Swend was a Swing style virtuoso.

Asmussen has played and recorded with many of the greats of Jazz, including Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Stephane Grappelli.

Asmussen played publicly until 2010 when he had a blood clot, his career having spanned eight decades.

Swend was still active playing violin at the age of 94

Svend Asmussen passed away at 100 years old.
