Sushil Koirala was born on August 12, 1939, in Banaras, India and died on February 9, 2016, in Kathmandu, Nepal

He was a 37th Prime Minister of Nepal.

He was the Prime Minister of Nepal from February 11, 2014, to October 10, 2015.

Sushil was also President of the Nepali Congress party from 2010 until his death on 9 February 2016.

Sushil was elected as Prime Minister of Nepal by the parliament on February 9, 2014.

Sushil Koirala joined the Nepali Congress in 1952 and served in various capacities prior to becoming its president in 2010.

He started in politics in 1954 inspired by the social-democratic ideals of the Nepali Congress.

Sushil was in political exile in India for 16 years following the royal takeover of 1960.

The former president Koirala also spent three years in Indian prisons for his involvement in a plane hijacking in 1973.

During in exile, Koirala was the editor of Tarun, the official party publication.

Sushil has been a member of the Central Working Committee of the party since 1979 and was appointed General Secretary of the party in 1996 and Vice President in 1998.

Sushil Koirala was diagnosed with lung cancer in June 2014.

Sushil Koirala passed away at 77 yrs old due to pneumonia, in his sleep, although he was alright the day before.
